Blithestone Lily Pond Company (formerly Pondforum.com) was founded in 2000 by Rob Sheldon, an avid water gardener and then professional landscaper. His goal was to create a website that would act as a valuable resource for water gardeners both novice and advanced, and that would provide easy access to the best water lilies and hardware products available.

We still strive to meet those goals. No compromises have been made in the information found on the site. The advice offered is anecdotal, drawn from actual experience, and in no way reflects the influence of manufacturers. It does, however, reflect our pond philosophy, which is this:

We believe that, with few exceptions, all a pond needs to succeed is a sturdy liner, a good pump and the right amount of water lilies (and that fish ponds usually require some degree of filtration beyond these basics).

Blithestone is currently undergoing a makeover. When the site upgrade is complete, a new sourcing catalog for water lilies will replace our current catalog, allowing visitors to familiarize themselves with the many lilies available and to source the ones they want to grow. Blithestone, however, will no longer sell lilies or hardware directly to our visitors. The site will instead be supported by ad revenue.

We will also be expanding the depth and breadth of our content. You'll find more visual tutorials, pond case studies and how-to information, as well as magazine-style content like pond-related interviews and features. Our goal is to become both a reference and a distraction. That is, we want people to visit the site if they have a question about their pond, or if they just want to escape into the world of water gardening on a snowy day in January.

The world of water gardening is bigger than most people think, with a history and a following that spans the globe - in the coming months and years we'll be working to make that world accessible to you through Blithestone.com.

Thanks for your patience and enjoy the site.
